This project focuses on translating a complex, multi-purpose system into a clear, user-first mobile experience.

UX/UI Design

The existing system was confusing, inconsistent, and hard to navigate.

The current booking platform attempted to support both equipment rentals and room bookings in a single interface. This resulted in unclear terminology, inconsistent flows, and low user confidence when completing bookings.

Design Focus

The design approach centered on creating a clear and predictable experience that matched how students actually think about booking space. Priority was placed on simplifying navigation, reducing unnecessary decisions, and presenting only the most relevant information at each step.

Flexibility was also important, as students frequently switch between planning ahead and booking rooms at the last minute.

The Solution

Roomi introduces a streamlined mobile experience built around familiar navigation patterns and clear calls to action. The home screen provides a simple overview of upcoming bookings while allowing users to quickly start a new reservation.

The booking flow is designed to be fast and flexible, allowing users to explore available rooms, set times, and add details without unnecessary steps. Collaboration is built directly into the experience, making it easy to invite classmates or instructors and keep everyone aligned.

Key Screens

Home Screen

The home screen gives users a clear view of their bookings for the day and the week ahead, making it easy to see what’s scheduled at a glance.

Booking a Room

Users can explore available rooms, view key details such as capacity and equipment, and complete a booking in just a few steps. The flow supports both quick decisions and more deliberate planning.

Collaborating with Classmates

Roomi allows users to organize classmates and instructors into groups that reflect real projects and teams. Invitations and reminders are handled automatically, reducing the need for manual follow-ups.

Takeaways

This project reinforced the importance of clear language and logical flow in multi-purpose systems. Designing with flexibility and scalability in mind helps ensure the experience remains usable as needs evolve. Most importantly, simplifying decisions and reducing friction can significantly improve user confidence, even without adding new features.
